Field trip participants will view tidal deposits in the Middle Pennsylvanian Labette Formation at three locations: Catoosa, Port of Catoosa and Broken Arrow. Exposures of the Peru Sandstone Member will also be examined. Evidence for tidal origin and types of tidal signatures will be discussed. In addition, we will consider the possible broader depositional systems setting for these tidal deposits. We will depart from the Keplinger Parking Lot on the University of Tulsa campus at 9:30 am, lunch at the DW Correll Museum in Catoosa, and expect to return to TU campus by 4:00 pm.
